Film
When Warner Bros. tapped James Gunn and Peter Safran to run DC Studios, we expected them to draw a new roadmap for the turbulent universe from comics to film. Now that they have revealed plans for their upcoming projects, we have our first idea of what the map looks like, at least in the near future. This first chapter, which Gunn and Safran call “Gods and Monsters”, will include 10 new film and television projects. Gunn and Safran said they intended to focus on scriptwriting and allow other creators to put their stamp on familiar characters as well as more obscure comic book characters.
These titles will exist in their own corner of the DC Universe, separate from upcoming releases prior to Gunn and Safran’s tenure. Still to come this year are Shazam! Fury of the gods the 17th of March, the flash June 16, blue beetle August 18, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom December 25th. Once those are wiped off the slate, the couple plans to release two movies and two series a year starting in 2024. The only DC projects that have wide release dates so far are Superman: Legacy and Batman: Part Twoboth expected in 2025. Read on for a full list of all the newly announced titles.
