A clinical psychologist and professor who teaches a required course on diversity at George Washington University allegedly created a hostile environment conducive to violence against civilians, according to a complaint filed with the US Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.

In response, Professor Sheehi called the comment a “prejudicial Islamophobic anti-Palestinian comment” and added that “a stone is nothing compared to an army.”
“[T]The fact is that a speaker was brought [by Sheehi] which advocated violence against Israelis — and by extension Jews — and which is anti-Semitic, yet which is being explained away,” the student said.

Sheehi did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and George Washington did not immediately respond whether the diversity professor had been removed from his academic duties as his own internal investigation begins.

Americans as well as civilians in Israel have been the targets of terrorist attacks financed by Palestinian groups such as Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In one of the most infamous terrorist attacks – the Suicide attack at the Sbarro restaurant – was planned by mastermind Ahlam al-Tamimi.
Tamimi carefully planned how to kill so many victims and children and escorted a suicide bomber to the scene.
The family of an American teenager killed in the attack – Malki Roth – continues to fight for Tamimi to be extradited from Jordan face justice in the United States.
In other cases, Hamas terrorists would include shrapnel in the bombs dipped in rat poison – an anticoagulant – to ensure victims hit by the obliterated metal in the blast would continue to bleed, increasing the risk of death.
“Hamas has long sought to increase the lethality of its attacks by launching shrapnel attached to its suicide attacks with chemicals,” according to a report by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
Sheehi is represented by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

In a statement, they said Sheehi was “wrongly accused of discrimination and anti-Semitism” due to a “wider politically and ethnically motivated campaign against Dr. Sheehi due to his scholarship and political activism in outside the classroom”.
“We understand that these claims would not otherwise have elicited such an exaggerated and prejudicial response from [George Washington], nor would they have found traction in public opinion if Dr. Sheehi were not Arab and his scholarship and activism were not focused on Palestine.
These smear campaigns, intended to silence dissenting voices, are rooted in anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian racism, a form of racism that silences, excludes, erases, stereotypes, defames and dehumanizes Arabs and their stories. »
