Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion who holds all major NFL passing records, announced in an emotional beachside video that he was “retiring for good.”
The video was posted to his social media accounts exactly one year after he said goodbye to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to focus on off-court commitments. He would announce his return less than 2 months later.
“Hello, guys. I’ll cut to the chase right away,” he said in the video. “I’m retiring for good. I know the process was pretty big last time.
So when I woke up this morning I thought I’d hit the ‘record’ button and tell you. Will let you know first so I won’t You only get one super emotional retreat trial and I used mine last year.
“I really thank you so much to each and every one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors… I can go on forever. There are too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream.
“I wouldn’t change anything.”
Brady posted several photos of his family, friends, teammates and coaches on his Instagram stories.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback led his team to the playoffs even as the team suffered a ton of injuries and finished with an 8-9 record.
